Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information GardenPairs collects when you use the site, why, and who it is shared with. We keep this as short and specific as we can while still being accurate about every data flow that actually exists on the site.

Information You Provide Directly

If you use the Contact form, the name, email address, and message you submit are sent to our contact-form processor and forwarded to our inbox so we can reply to you. If you purchase the Custom Season Planting Plan or make a direct contribution, our payment processor collects the payment details needed to complete that transaction; we do not receive or store your full card number.

Analytics

We use aggregate analytics services (which may include Google Analytics and Vercel's built-in analytics) to understand which pages are useful and how visitors generally navigate the site. These services may set cookies or use similar identifiers in your browser to distinguish repeat visits from new ones and to measure traffic in aggregate. We do not use this data to identify you personally, and we do not sell it. If you prefer not to be measured this way, most browsers let you block third-party analytics cookies, and browser extensions exist that block analytics scripts outright.

The Garden-Planning Tools

The Companion Pairing Checker, Planting Calendar Generator, Bed Layout Helper, and Frost-Date Lookup run entirely in your browser using data that is built into the page when it loads. Nothing you enter into these tools - the crops you select, the bed dimensions you type, the zone you choose - is sent to our servers or stored by us. If a tool lets you generate a shareable URL (for example, a planting calendar), the inputs are encoded into that URL itself, not saved in any database on our end.

Third-Party Services We Use

• A contact-form processor, to relay Contact form submissions to our inbox.
• A payment processor, to handle Custom Season Planting Plan purchases and direct contributions securely.
• An email-delivery service, if you sign up for anything that involves a confirmation or notification email.
• Aggregate web analytics, described above.
• Our hosting provider, which necessarily processes standard server logs (IP address, browser type, requested page) as part of serving the site, as any hosting provider does.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not require an account or login to use any content or tool on this site. We do not ask for information beyond what's needed for the specific thing you're doing (contacting us, or completing a purchase).

Your Choices

You can decline analytics cookies through your browser settings, use a browser extension that blocks tracking scripts, and contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you or to request it be deleted, subject to what our payment and email providers are separately required to retain for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how we handle your data, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, note it here.

Data Retention

Contact-form submissions are retained only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, plus a reasonable window afterward in case you follow up. Payment records are retained by our payment processor for the period required by their own compliance and accounting obligations, not by us directly - we don't maintain a separate database of past purchases beyond what's needed to fulfill a Custom Season Planting Plan order.

Children's Privacy

GardenPairs is a general-audience gardening reference and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we become aware that we have, we will delete it.

International Visitors

This site is hosted and operated from the United States. If you're visiting from outside the United States, be aware that any information you provide (through the Contact form or a purchase) will be processed on servers located in the United States, subject to United States law.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no single agreed-upon industry standard for how sites should respond to this signal, so like most sites, we do not currently change our behavior based on it - use the browser-level cookie and tracking-script blocking options described above for direct control instead.
